The Egyptian Experience is central to the History of Israel and to the History of the Jewish People. It would be difficult, if not impossible to conceive of Judaism without the observance and celebration of Passover, “The Festival of our Freedom.” In fact, mitzvoth that we observe daily we do “In memory of our Exodus from Egypt.” Thus, it was rather shocking and hard to believe that a group of archaeologists and historians, including Israelis, started a propaganda campaign, claiming that these seminal events in our history never took place. In this series of lectures we will see, by examination of ancient records of Egypt and other sources, that the biblical historical narratives are more authentic and adhere closer to the truth than any theories founded on thin air.

In this lecture Dr. David Neiman refutes the minimalists and argues the historical accuracy of the story of the Exodus. Stories in the Haggadah, including the Bar Kochbah rebellion, are illuminated to enhance understanding of the Passover holiday.
